Our Classes

Ages 8 and under

Fast pace introductory class designed for students ages 18 months to 3 years old. Students work on fine and gross motor movements, responding to musical cues, stretching, strength and the skills need to be in a classroom environment. All while listening to their favorite songs and using a variety of props and equipment.

Dual style class meaning students will work for half of the class on tumbling technique and skills. Followed by learning the strength and technique required for hip hop. This class includes hip hop moves and tricks as well as stations and drills to build strength for tumbling skills.

Specialized class designed for students ages 3 to 6 years old as an introductory into the leveled tumbling classes. With a warm up including strength and conditioning exercises specific for developing the coordination for various tumbling skills. Students will work on stations and drills needed to achieve skills like handstands, headstands, cartwheels, somersaults and other beginning tumbling skills. All the while working on fun collection of mats and equipment designed to make sure students stay safe while still having fun.

While using a varied of different tumbling mats and equipment students will work on many tumbling and acrobatic skills and tricks including: cartwheels, walkovers, chest and elbow stands, head and handstands, aerials, handsprings and more. Students will learn different strength and coordination exercises that will help lead them to achieve complex tumbling skills in a safe learning environment.

Dual style introductory class for students interested in both styles of ballet and tap. Students will learn basic skills and terminology for both tap and ballet. Students will work on stretching and strengthening exercises, progressions across the floor and combinations to some of their favorite songs.

Just like the musicals that we see on stage or on T.V. students will work on their acting, singing and dancing skills in this fast moving class. In this class students will learn how to develop a character and perform for an audience to some of their favorite musicals like The Greatest Showman, Wicked, Hamilton and many more.

Students will work on dance technique as well as learning different routines throughout the year that they will then have the opportunity to perform for the community. This class is perfect for students wanting more performance opportunities then just our year end recital or for students interested in our competition program.

Just like the musicals that we see on stage or on T.V. students will work on their acting, singing and dancing skills in this fast moving class. In this class students will learn how to develop a character and perform for an audience to some of their favorite musicals like The Greatest Showman, Wicked, Hamilton and many more.

In this urban style class students will work on some of the newest dance styles seen online and on T.V. They will also work on the more tradition skills, tricks and terminology seen in the style of hip hop throughout the years. Students will work on strengthening exercises, across the floor progressions, ticks and combinations to their favorite pop and hip hop/ RnB songs in this class.
This class incorporates the more technical elements of Ballet as well as the more abstract and fun movements of jazz into a slow and meaningful style of dance. Students will work on body isolations, across the floor progressions and short lyrical combinations to slower pop and contemporary songs in this class.
This class is designed for dancers who are interested in furthering their dance technique. Students will work on strengthening and stretching exercises as well as across the floor progression and short combinations all designed to strengthen overall dance technique. Students will learn new jumps, turns, kicks and tricks in this class, which is a great class to start in if you are interested in our competitive team.
Students will work on the different elements that are needed to be a tap dancer including, rhythm, balance, coordination and technique. Students will work on strengthening exercises, across the floor progressions and short combinations of tap steps in this class.
In this traditional style of dance student will learn all the correct body placements, movements, etiquette and terminology associated with this famous and very old style. Students will work through a traditional class including barre work, center floor and across the floor progressions all the while wearing the tradition attire of black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes (males have special attire).
In this 30 minute class student will work on different exercises to help aid in increased flexibility and strength to help them excel in any style of dance.

This is a unique class in that it includes dancers of all ages and abilities. You must be at least 8 years old to take this class and in level 2 classes. Students in this class will be put out of their comfort zone while they learn the art of improvisation or coming up with your own dance moves on the spot. They will work on different exercises, progression, dances and even games to help aid in their own style development. Dancers will be encouraged to dance to all styles or music including pop, hip hop/RnB, country, soul and many more.

While using a varied of different tumbling mats and equipment students will work on many tumbling and acrobatic skills and tricks including: cartwheels, walkovers, chest and elbow stands, head and handstands, aerials, handsprings and more. Ballet is the foundation of most dance classes. This class teaches dancers correct body placement, body alignment, as well as focuses on exercise at the barre, center floor, and moving across the floor. For older, more advanced students, pointe is offered. There is an evaluation required by instructor in order to participate. Attire: leotard, booty shorts, sports bra. Pink ballet shoes required. No loose fitting clothing permitted.

This class offers dancers the ability to strengthen some of the most challenging dance skills. As the dancers physical fitness improves with the use of high intensity cardio and resistance training, their leaps and turns will do the same.

Attire: Leotard, booty shorts, shorts bra, tank. No loose fitting clothing permitted. Turners or tan jazz shoes required.

Lyrical class is a fusion of jazz and ballet. Dancers will learn lyrical choreography as well as focus on across the floor exercises that will improve both technique and performance skills.

This high energy class will teach your dancer a mix of break dancing, urban style and jazz movements. Dancers will build strength and learn the newest stalls and tricks in this challenging class.

Sarah Ryland​

Teacher

Sarah Keating Ryland grew up dancing in Lincoln, NE. She began her teaching career at Hart Dance Academy, and was a member of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company, dancing in their annual production of the Nutcracker, as well as other ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and Copellia. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, where she danced on scholarship with the Scarlets for 4 years. She was a head instructor for Universal Dance Association, as seen in ESPN, and had traveled across the US and Europe teaching and choreographing. In 1999 she moved to Omaha, where she has continued to teach for the past 20 years, both as a studio owner and as a company teacher. Her passion is for ballet and perfect technique in all genres of dance! Sarah is married to Bill Ryland and mother to Clara, Trey, Katlyn, Faith, William, Hope, and John Paul.

Sienna - Core Dance Teacher

Sienna Scott

Teacher

Sienna was born and raised in Omaha, NE and began her dance career at the age of two.  She competed on a studio team and was on the Skutt High School Dance Team for four years.  Sienna was also a member of the University of Nebraska Omaha Dance Team and is currently pursuing a degree in sociology.  Sienna wants to continue her education and obtain a Masters in Occupational Therapy upon graduation from UNO.  Sienna joined CORE Dance Company in late Spring of 2017 and is excited to be on the summer and fall 2017 schedule.  Sienna will teach both recreational and competitive classes.

Jadyn Bechtold

Jadyn was born in Omaha, NE and began dancing at the age of five.  Her passion for dance is evident when she tells people she “eats, sleeps and breathes dance.”  She danced competitively in the Omaha area and became a member of the Millard West Dance Team her freshman year of high school.  At the age of sixteen Jadyn began her teaching career.  She graduated from Millard West in 2015 and currently attends The University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Jadyn was a member of the UNO Dance Team and is pursuing a degree in marketing with a minor in dance.  Her most recent choreography at CORE has won multiple overall awards, special judges awards, and choreography awards.  Jadyn joined CORE Dance Company in the fall of 2016 and teaches both recreational and competitive classes.

Samantha Delts

Sam was born and raised in Omaha, NE and began her dance career at the age of three. Sam has attended multiple studios and dance competitively since the age of five. She attended Millard North High School, where she was a part of their dance team for four years. Sam has a Bachelors degree in education. She most recently has joined CORE full and is excited to be a part of the administrative side of the studio. She has choreographed competitively for the past four years and has won numerous overall, top 10, choreography awards and special judges awards. Sam is the assistant director of CORE Dance Company and shared the same dream as Liz of opening a studio. Sam is going on her fourth year of teaching for CORE and is excited for the best year yet!.

Liz Walls

Owner/Director

Liz was born and raised in Omaha, NE where she began her dance career. Liz began dancing at the age of two, and competing at the age of four. At the age of sixteen she underwent knee surgery, putting an end to her competitive dancing. She began assisting classes and followed by teaching. Liz graduated in 2014 from Creighton University with a Bachelors degree in Nursing, in which she practices full time. She has taught both competition and recreational students at studios throughout the Omaha area. Liz has choreographed competitively for the past five years and enjoys the competition atmosphere. Opening a studio has been a lifelong dream for Liz, and she feels blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing dancers and families. Liz primarily teaches our youngest dancers as well as the competition dancers.
